Brackenridge is a borough in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. It is located in the western part of the state along the Allegheny River. Brackenridge is part of the Pittsburgh Metro Area, with the city of Pittsburgh about a 30 minute drive away. The borough has an area of 0.6 square miles, of which, 0.5 square miles of it is land and 0.04 square miles of it is water. Brackenridge has an average elevation of 827 feet above sea level. The borough has a very high population density. Brackenridge has over 1,500 households and the median income for a household in the borough is $30,050, and the median income for a family is $41,803. The racial demographics of the borough is 95.03% White, 3.44% African American, 0.11% Native American, 0.23% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 0.37% from other races, and 0.79% from two or more races. The borough is named after Henry Marie Brackenridge a prominent American writer, lawyer, judge, and Congressman from Pennsylvania who served the country in the 18th and 19th centuries.
